


A 21-month-old boy Mushfiqur Rahim, drowned in floodwaters in the Balirpara area of Pekua Sadar Union in Cox's Bazar on Saturday night.
At around 9:30 p.m. on July 11, the toddler wandered out of his home unnoticed while his mother was attending to household chores. He fell into the floodwater that had inundated the family's courtyard.
Relatives quickly began searching for the missing child and found him unresponsive in the water next to the house. He was rushed to a local hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead on arrival.
Mushfiqur was the only child of Nasir, a Bangladeshi expatriate.
The boy’s uncle, Ibrahim, stated that Nasir frequently spoke with his son over the phone from abroad and is devastated by the news. The tragic drowning has cast a deep shadow of grief over the family and the surrounding community.
