


A special meeting of the Kalia Upazila Disaster Management Committee was held on Sunday to strengthen regional preparations for potential natural disasters, heavy rainfall, and river erosion in Narail.
Chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Jinnatul Islam, the session prioritized immediate public safety measures. Key discussions focused on keeping emergency shelters operational, streamlining rescue operations, and stockpiling essential relief materials. The committee heavily emphasized ensuring the safety of residents living in vulnerable, erosion-prone zones through inter-departmental coordination.
"The upazila administration is fully prepared to handle any disaster," stated UNO Md. Jinnatul Islam. "We have issued clear directives to all relevant departments to ensure a rapid, coordinated response during emergencies."
The collaborative meeting brought together vital local stakeholders to ensure a unified approach. Attendees included Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sraboni Biswas, Kalia Police Officer-in-Charge Md. Idris Ali, Project Implementation Officer Md. Mostafa Kamal, and Upazila Health Complex RMO Partha Pratim Biswas, alongside key local political figures and representatives from various government departments.
