Gold Prices Drop in Bangladesh: New Rates Announced

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced a notable reduction in domestic gold prices, effective Monday, July 13, 2026. This adjustment follows a recent drop in the local market price of pure gold (acid gold), providing some relief to consumers.

Under the revised pricing structure, the cost of 22-carat gold has been slashed by Tk2,216.

Updated Gold Prices (Per Bhori / 11.664 grams):

22-carat: Tk221,966 21-carat: Tk211,993 18-carat: Tk182,075 Traditional method: Tk148,778

These rates apply to all jewelry outlets nationwide until further notice. Important Consumer Information: To protect buyers, BAJUS clarified that Value Added Tax (VAT) is already included in these retail rates. Jewelers cannot charge customers additional VAT on the gold itself. However, standard making charges will still apply, varying based on the jewelry's design.

Existing rules regarding the exchange and purchase of jewelry—excluding the specified VAT, labor charges, and gemstone values—remain unchanged.
