


An interfaith citizen dialogue aimed at strengthening religious and political tolerance was held in Monohardi, Narsingdi, on Monday afternoon.
The Monohardi Peace Facilitator Group (PFG) organized the event at the Upazila Parishad auditorium, with support from The Hunger Project Bangladesh.
Peace Ambassador Md. Ariful Islam Bhuiyan chaired the session, which was moderated by PFG Coordinator Kazi Anwar Kamal. Monohardi Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Sajib Mia attended as the chief guest. Special guests included Dr. Nazmun Nahar Noor, Deputy Program Coordinator of The Hunger Project Bangladesh, and Monohardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jahangir Badsha. The Hunger Project’s Field Coordinator, Ripon Acharya, presented the keynote paper.
During the dialogue, speakers emphasized that political parties, religious groups, and professional communities must act responsibly to maintain national harmony. They noted that guaranteeing the freedom to respectfully express opinions and practice beliefs is vital for peaceful coexistence. While acknowledging Bangladesh’s slight improvement in the Global Peace Index, speakers stressed that true collective peace requires citizens of all religions, castes, and political affiliations to actively uphold tolerance and morality.
Other notable speakers included Upazila Jubo Dal Member Secretary Md. Masudur Rahman Sohag; Monohardi Municipal Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Asaduzzaman Noor; Monohardi Press Club General Secretary Sujan Barman and Vice President Tajul Islam Badal; journalists Md. Kamrul Islam and Saleha Akter Kanchi; local religious leaders Maulana Rafiqul Islam, Maulana Mezbah Uddin, Maulana Safiullah, and Priest Tarapada Chakraborty; as well as YPAJ member Al Ashik, PFG member Masudur Rahman Alamgir, Peace Ambassador Nargis Sultana, and Emdadul Haque Tito.
