Police arrested Youth Dal (Jubo Dal) leader Abul Kashem early Monday (June 15) for the alleged attempted rape of a seventh-grade student in Ataikula, Pabna. Following the allegations, the party expelled him from all organizational posts.
Using digital tracking, an Ataikula Police Station team apprehended Kashem in the Shahjadpur area of Sirajganj district. Kashem, a resident of Ariadangi village, was serving as the senior vice-president of the Youth Dal's Ward No. 7 unit in Ataikula.
"We conducted an overnight drive using digital tracking and arrested him this morning. Legal proceedings are currently underway," confirmed Ataikula Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mujibur Rahman.
The incident occurred on June 11 when Kashem allegedly targeted the schoolgirl as she walked home. The victim's mother filed a formal police case the following day. Outraged by the incident and demanding immediate justice, locals vandalized and torched Kashem’s business establishment on Sunday (June 14).
That same night, local Youth Dal President Ektashamul Haque Rajib and General Secretary Billal Sardar issued a press release announcing Kashem's official expulsion for "anti-social activities." The directive explicitly instructed all party leaders and activists to sever ties with him.
