The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has successfully foiled an attempt by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to push three Indian nationals into Bangladesh through the Patgram upazila border in Lalmonirhat.
The incident occurred around 2:00 am on Sunday near the Kalirhat village border in Sadar Union, opposite India’s Dawarikamari village.
According to BGB and local sources, members of the 156th BSF Battalion turned off the border searchlights and opened a gate in the border fence, attempting to force the three individuals across. Alert BGB patrol members from the 61st Teesta Battalion's Kalirhat camp immediately challenged the move, signaling their active presence.
Facing resistance from the BGB, the BSF abandoned the push-in attempt and retreated into Indian territory with the three individuals. Sources confirm they have not been seen near the zero line since.
A BGB press release stated that round-the-clock surveillance has been strengthened in the area with the assistance of local residents. Officials confirmed that the situation along the border currently remains normal.
