


Police have filed a case against three individuals, including a former local councilor, following the seizure of fake Derby cigarettes and stolen goods from a barn in Morelganj.
The case was filed late Saturday night under the Special Powers Act of 1974. Kazi Mortuza Reza, a legal officer for British American Tobacco Company, is the plaintiff.
The primary accused is Badrul Alam (alias Bhaddar), a former councilor from Sankibhanga village and owner of Crown Tobacco Industries. Two of his employees, Monir Boyati and Mujibar Sheikh, are also named in the case.
According to the case statement, authorities seized 143,000 fake Derby cigarette sticks, valued at approximately Tk 11 lakh.
Sub-Inspector Ram Uttam, the investigating officer, confirmed that the investigation is underway and police are actively working to arrest the suspects.
