


A court in Faridpur has sentenced former auditor of the accounting office Abul Fazal Mohammad Nasir Uddin to a total of 6 years of rigorous imprisonment in two separate sections in a corruption case, for three years each. At the same time, the court announced a fine of 2 lakh Taka and another year of imprisonment in default.
On Wednesday at noon, Special Judge Md. Sharif Uddin of the Faridpur Senior District and Sessions Judge's Court announced the verdict in the case. Former accountant Abul Fazal Mohammad Nasir Uddin was present in the court when the verdict was announced. Later, he was taken to the district jail under police guard.
Mohammad Nasir Uddin lives in a flat on Abdul Karim Mia Road in Jhiltuli Mohalla of Faridpur city. He is a resident of Sheikhpura village in Kaulibera union of Bhanga upazila of the district and a former accountant of Faridpur Accounts Office.
According to the case statement, he embezzled Tk. 41 lakh 25 thousand 921 through corruption between the financial year 2016-17 and the financial year 2020-21 during his service. Later, on October 3, 2022, Rezaul Karim, Deputy Director of ACC Faridpur District Office, filed a case against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The investigation was conducted by Sardar Abul Basar, Assistant Director of ACC Faridpur.
According to court sources, he could show the source of only Tk 10 thousand in the corruption case of Tk. 41 lakh. As he could not show the source of the remaining money, the court ordered him to deposit all the remaining money earned through corruption (41 lakh 15 thousand 921 Taka) in the government treasury.
In addition, as the charges brought under Section 26(2) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 were proved beyond doubt, he was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of one lakh taka.
In default of payment of the fine, he was sentenced to six months of rigorous imprisonment and found guilty under Section 27(1) of the same Act, he was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of one lakh taka.
In default of payment of the fine, he was sentenced to another six months of rigorous imprisonment.
Confirming the matter, ACC, Faridpur Office Assistant Inspector Md. Shamim said, We are satisfied with the court's verdict. We have received justice.
