Proving that love knows no borders, a 24-year-old Chinese man traveled to Bangladesh to marry a young woman from Kushtia after a year-long online romance.

The groom, Chen Bao Ming, a restaurant owner from China's Gansu province, tied the knot with 19-year-old Taslima Khatun, daughter of Madhu Molla from Paschim Behla village in Bheramara upazila.

According to family members, the couple first met on social media. Over the past year, their online communication blossomed into a deep relationship. With the consent of both families, Chen arrived in Bangladesh on Monday (April 20). The couple legally completed their court marriage in Kushtia shortly after his arrival.

They are currently staying at Taslima’s family home in Bheramara. The news of a foreign groom's arrival has sparked widespread curiosity in the area. Since Friday, eager crowds of neighbors and residents from surrounding villages have been flocking to the house to meet the Chinese youth.

Expressing her joy, Taslima said, "We married with the full consent of both families. My parents are in regular contact with my in-laws in China and I am very happy with this marriage."

Chen is also embracing his new extended family. "I love Taslima deeply. Her family is incredibly kind and friendly and I am enjoying my time adapting to their culture" he said. "I am currently preparing the necessary documents so I can take my wife to China very soon."
