The election for the management committee of Paikgachha Upazila Central Cooperative Society (UCC) Ltd. in Khulna has been completed, with Prankrishna Das re-elected as president.

Voting for the posts of president and one member—out of a nine-member committee—was held on Wednesday (April 22) from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Upazila Rural Development Office auditorium.

Upazila Rural Development Officer Wahid Murad said the election was conducted in a fair and peaceful manner. Of the 83 registered voters, 81 cast their ballots.

Two candidates contested the presidency. Prankrishna Das secured 49 votes with the umbrella symbol, defeating Abdul Khalek Gazi, who received 32 votes with the chair symbol.

In the member race for the Raruli area, Rezaul Karim won with 9 votes (rooster symbol), while his closest rival Iqbal Hossain got 5 votes (lock symbol).

Earlier, Abu Md. Iqbal was elected vice-president unopposed. Sudhir Chandra Das, Deepak Chandra Sarkar, Dipankar Sana, and Prakash Chandra were also elected members unopposed.

The election was overseen by Chief Election Commissioner and Upazila Cooperative Officer Humayun Kabir. Assistant Rural Development Officer Mostafizur Rahman and Assistant Cooperative Inspector Amir Hossain assisted in conducting the election.
