


After days of uncertainty the family of missing Bangladeshi student Nahida Sultana Bristi in the United States has received tragic confirmation of her death.
Her brother, Zahid Hasan Prant, shared the news on social media on Saturday (April 25), citing information provided by US police. According to investigators, DNA testing of human remains found inside a suspect’s residence matched Nahida.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether all parts of her body can be recovered.
Nahida, a former student of Noakhali University of Science and Technology, was pursuing a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of South Florida. News of her death has deeply affected her family, friends, and the wider Bangladeshi community.
In a related development, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida confirmed the recovery of dismembered remains of another Bangladeshi student, Jamil Limon, who had also been missing. His body parts were found near the Howard Frankland Bridge in Tampa.
Limon had been missing since April 16. Police have arrested his roommate, Hisham Saleh Abugarbiyeh, in connection with the case. Investigators say evidence linked to both victims was found at the suspect’s residence.
The discovery of the two murders has shocked the Bangladeshi community abroad. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motive and full circumstances behind the killings.
