Students of the Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine faculty at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) held a press conference on Tuesday demanding the immediate reinstatement of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.

The students alleged that the university administration forced a "combined degree" on them through psychological pressure and threats, ignoring a High Court ruling that declared the move unlawful. Since March 4, students have been boycotting classes, and they have locked down academic and administrative buildings since early April.

Speakers at the press conference, including Sanzidul Abedin and Shahidul Islam claimed they are receiving threatening phone calls to suppress their movement.

They warned of tougher protests if the University Grants Commission (UGC) and university authorities do not intervene to secure their academic future.
