Professor Dr. Md. Samsuzzoha, Chairman of the Department of Emergency Management at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), served as a Co-Chair at the National Seminar on Climate and Disaster Resilience (NSCDR-2026) held yesterday.
The seminar took place on Saturday, April 11, at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka. Dr. Samsuzzoha co-chaired Technical Session-3, where he provided expert analysis and feedback on various research presentations.
Representing PSTU alongside him were Associate Professor Md. Ashikur Rahman, alumnus Sad Bin Islam, and MS student Israt Jahan Oishi.
The event was jointly organized by Dhaka University’s Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS) and the Center for Disaster Management Education, Research and Training (DMERT). The seminar brought together academics, policymakers, and researchers to discuss nine thematic areas, including early warning systems, urban disaster risks, and ecosystem-based solutions.
"I am proud to represent PSTU at this national level," Dr. Samsuzzoha stated. "The networks built here between experts and researchers will significantly enhance future disaster management initiatives and professional opportunities for our students."
The participation of PSTU faculty in such high-level roles underscores the university's increasing influence in national research and climate policy development.
