


In a bid to foster self-reliance and community development, sewing machines, sports equipment, and musical instruments were distributed in Nalchiti, Jhalakathi on Saturday. The initiative, funded by the Upazila Parishad Development and Revenue Development Fund, aims to empower underprivileged women and support local institutions.
The distribution ceremony was held at 10:00 AM at the Nalchiti Upazila Parishad Auditorium. Israt Sultana Elaine Bhutto, Member of Parliament for Jhalakathi-2, attended as the chief guest.
Presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ms. Segufta Mehnaz, the event was attended by several local officials and leaders, including Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rizvi Ahmed Sabuj, Upazila LGED Officer Azizul Haque, and Upazila BNP President Anichur Rahman Helal Khan.
During the program, the chief guest handed over 33 sewing machines to helpless women to help them achieve financial independence. 15 sets of sports equipment to various local schools to encourage physical education.
4 sets of musical instruments to various temples across the upazila.
Speakers at the event emphasized that providing tools for self-employment is a sustainable way to alleviate poverty in the region.
