A fire broke out on the third floor of an eight-storey building in the Degi Chala area of Gazipur on Saturday afternoon.
The fire broke out at the Metricx Garments building at Fokir Market around 2:44pm. Nine units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence are working to bring the blaze under control.
Talha Bin Jasim, an officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence media cell, confirmed the information.
According to the Fire Service, they received information about the fire at 2:44pm. A unit left for the scene at 2:45pm and arrived at around 3pm. The location is approximately five kilometres from the fire station.
So far, Fire Service personnel have safely evacuated 69 people from the building.
No casualties have been reported in the incident so far.
