Eid-ul-Fitr brings relief and joy to university students after a month of fasting and a year of academic pressure. For students of Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), the festival is a time to return home, reconnect with family, and reflect on the values of Ramadan.
Despite long journeys and transport challenges, students say the happiness of reuniting with loved ones outweighs all difficulties. Family gatherings, shared iftars, and Eid preparations create a warm and emotional atmosphere.
Students also highlighted that Eid is more than a celebration—it is a time for spiritual reflection, gratitude, and social responsibility.
Eid beyond Celebration
Moin Uddin from the Faculty of Agriculture said Eid teaches patience, discipline, and self-control gained through fasting. “Eid is not just about celebration. It is about inner peace, self-purification, and sharing joy with others,” he said. He added that zakat ensures inclusion of the less privileged and strengthens the spirit of equality.
Message of Unity and Joy
Saima Sultana Elin from the Faculty of Law and Land Administration described Eid as a symbol of unity. “All differences disappear as people stand together in prayer. For me, the true joy of Eid lies in family reunions and the happiness of loved ones,” she said.
Time for Reunion and Reflection
Ibrahim Islam Hasib from the Faculty of Business Administration said Eid offers students a rare opportunity to return to their roots. “It is a time to relive childhood memories and reconnect with family and friends,” he said, adding that Eid also promotes generosity and compassion.
Relief from Campus Life
Meherunnesa Laboni from the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering said Eid helps ease the stress of academic life. “It brings peace and reminds us of our responsibility towards the underprivileged through zakat and fitra,” she noted.
Journey Home and Festive Excitement
Nur Islam Piyas from the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine highlighted the excitement of travelling home. “Discussions about Eid plans start days earlier. The journey itself becomes part of the joy,” he said.
A call for Harmony
Sumaiya Amin from the same faculty said Eid is also a time to strengthen social bonds. “Beyond celebration, Eid teaches unity, compassion, and forgiveness,” she said.
Overall, PSTU students see Eid-ul-Fitr as a blend of joy, spirituality, and human connection—making it one of the most meaningful times of the year.
