


Police have arrested four people with Yaba tablets, stolen Indian bidis and a motorcycle during a raid in Tahirpur Upazila of Sunamganj District.
The operation was conducted on Sunday night (March 9) around 9:30 pm in the Kaukandi area of the upazila under the direction of the Bangladesh Police.
According to police, the raid was carried out following instructions from the Superintendent of Police of Sunamganj and under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Police of the Tahirpur Circle. A team led by Sub-Inspector Md. Nazmul Islam conducted the operation.
The arrested individuals are Janu Mia (35), son of Shafiq Mia of Kaukandi village, Kamal Uddin (26), son of Nuru Mia of Madhuarchar village, Shaon Ahmed (25), son of Ruhul Mia of Ratanshri village and Badsha Mia (26), son of Qutub Uddin of the same village.
During the raid, police recovered 120 Yaba tablets, 14,000 Indian Sheikh Nasiruddin brand bidis, an old 100cc Mahindra motorcycle, and Tk 600 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
Police estimated the total value of the seized items at around Tk 1,07,600.
Sub-Inspector Md. Nazmul Islam filed a case with Tahirpur Police Station as the complainant. The case was registered as FIR No. 16 dated March 10, 2026.
The case has been filed under Section 25B(1)(b) of the Special Powers Act 1974 and Section 10(a)/38 of Schedule 36(1) of the Narcotics Control Act 2018.
Police said the accused were sent to court after completing the necessary legal procedures.
