A mobile court in Porsha, Naogaon, fined a meat trader 15,000 BDT on Wednesday morning for slaughtering a diseased cow and attempting to sell the meat. The operation took place at the Nochnahar intersection.
The accused, Mujibar, son of the late Azar Uddin from Ghatnagar Telipara village, was caught after local authorities received a tip-off. Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mosa: Nabila Ferdous led the drive and confirmed that the allegations were found to be true upon arrival.
Acting on the instructions of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rakibul Islam, the court imposed the fine and seized 60 kg of tainted meat, which was subsequently buried to ensure it did not reach consumers. Animal Resources Extension Officer Dr. Golap Hossain and local residents were present during the disposal.
Authorities warned that such drives would continue to protect public health and ensure food safety standards in local markets.
