326,000 Expat Postal Ballots Reach Bangladesh Ahead of Polls

Out of the ballots sent by expatriate voters registered on the 'Postal Vote BD' app to participate in the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum, 326,020 postal ballots have already reached the country.

Salim Ahmad Khan, Team Leader of the OCV-SDI Project for the Expatriate Voter Registration Program, gave this information on Wednesday. He said that a total of 766,862 ballots have been delivered to the registered expatriate voters through the mobile app till 9:30 am.

Out of these, 524,869 expatriate voters have received their ballots. Already, 472,410 have completed voting and 431,748 have deposited their ballots in the post offices or mailboxes of the respective countries. So far, 41,178 ballots have reached the returning officer of the ballots sent by expatriate voters.

The Election Commission (EC) has started sending postal ballots to the expatriates as well as to the voters residing inside the country (ICPV). Ballots have already been sent to the addresses of 662,191 registered voters across the country.

According to the EC, as of 9:30 am on Wednesday, 170,989 voters within the country have received their ballots. Of these, 131,691 have completed voting and 144,165 have submitted their ballots to post offices or mailboxes.

Salim Ahmad Khan further said that a total of 15,33,684 voters, both in the country and abroad, have registered on the ‘Postal Vote BD’ app to vote through postal ballot in the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum.
