Two children drowned in Kurigram's Roumari upazila in a tragic incident. The incident took place in the Kartimari area of Jadurchar union of the upazila on Wednesday morning, December 10.

The deceased are Shahbab Mandal (2), the infant son of Shahjahan of Kartimari area, and Abu Toha Mandal (3), the infant son of Abu Taleb of Diglapara area. They are related by maternal uncle.

According to local sources, the two children fell into the pond while playing in front of their house in the morning.

Later, at one stage of the search, the family members rescued the two children from the pond and rushed them to the hospital, where the doctor on duty declared them dead.

The death of the two children has cast a shadow of grief over the area. The courtyard of the house has become heavy with the wailing of relatives.

In this regard, Roumari Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Shahneyaz confirmed the truth of the incident and said that an accidental death (UD) case will be filed at the police station in this incident.
