Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mahfuj Alam and LGRD and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain officially submitted their resignation letters to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today (December 10) at the State Guest House Jamuna around 5 pm.
The Chief Adviser's Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, confirmed the development, stating that the resignations will take effect immediately following the Election Commission's (EC) announcement of the general polls schedule, which is slated for 6 pm tomorrow (December 11).
Professor Yunus, upon receiving the letters from the two advisers who were prominent leaders of the 2024 student-people July Uprising, praised their service. He wished them success, stating that "the nation will remember them for their outstanding role in the uprising" and expressed hope that they would play an active role in the democratic transition and development moving forward. He urged them to utilize their governmental experience for the country's welfare.
Regarding their potential participation in tomorrow's weekly Council of Advisers meeting, the Press Secretary noted that since the resignations become effective after the polls schedule announcement, the two advisers may still attend if the meeting is held beforehand.
The press secretary also affirmed that there is no confusion regarding the holding of the general polls in the first half of February.
