A mobile court has fined a fertilizer dealer Tk 50,000 in Nageshwari, Kurigram. On Saturday afternoon, the fine was imposed on Messrs. Isha Traders of Fakhrul Islam, a fertilizer dealer in the Uttar Sapkhawa Beparitari area of Raiganj Union of the upazila, for moving 80 bags of fertilizer from the godown to another place.

On Friday, around 9 pm, locals seized 4,000 kg (4 metric tons) of DAP fertilizer in the Mastermor area of Raiganj Union under suspicion of smuggling. Later, on receiving information, the police went to the spot, seized the loaded fertilizers and took them to the police station.

Meanwhile, on the day of the incident, Agriculture Officer and SI of Nageshwari Police Station Nadim Hossain mentioned the name of Radia Traders' dealer Halima Khatun, but the next day it was revealed that the seized fertilizers belonged to Messrs. Isha Traders.

In this regard, Upazila Agriculture Officer Shahriar Hossain said that after investigating the complaint of moving the fertilizer elsewhere, Isha Traders was fined Tk 50,000 on Saturday afternoon. The previous day, he mentioned Radia Traders, but why was Isha Traders fined? In response to the question, he said that Messrs. Isha Traders and Messrs. Radia Traders have godowns next to each other and they are from the same family. Earlier, the two dealers were fined Tk 50,000 and Tk 1 lakh each. And Radia Traders has not yet lifted the fertilizer from here. That is why there is no fertilizer in their godown.

However, Isha Traders lifted the fertilizer. They were moving 80 sacks of fertilizer from there to another place with Nasimon. When the public stopped the people carrying these fertilizers, the police seized them. The seized fertilizer will be sold to farmers in Raiganj Union and the proceeds will be deposited in the government treasury.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Badruzzaman Rishad said that Fakhrul Ahsan, the owner of Messrs. Isha Traders, could not be found. However, his manager Rabiul Islam has admitted his guilt in removing the fertilizer. Messrs. Isha Traders has been fined Tk 50,000. An order has been issued to form a committee to sell the seized fertilizer to farmers at the government price and deposit the proceeds in the treasury.
