


On Saturday, December 6, Kurigram celebrated "Kurigram Invader Liberation Day" with great respect. To commemorate the occasion, a victory procession, wreath-laying, and a discussion meeting about the Liberation War took place in the morning.
According to the history of the Liberation War, Kurigram was freed from invaders on December 6, 1971. On this day, the freedom fighters pressured the Pakistani soldiers, who ultimately retreated from Kurigram. Thus, December 6 is recognized as Kurigram Invader Liberation Day.
On this day in 1971, the first victory flag of independence was raised at the Kurigram overhead water tank in the city, led by Company Commander Brave Freedom Fighter Md. Abdul Hai Sarkar Bir Pratik.
To celebrate the day, a victory procession began at 9 am from the Muktijoddha Complex in Kurigram district headquarters. After circling the city, they laid a wreath at the Victory Pillar of Independence at College Cross. During this time, a discussion meeting was held, chaired by Kurigram district convener of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad, Bir Muktijoddha Md. Nuruzzaman, and moderated by Sadar Command convener Bir Muktijoddha Md. Abdul Baten Sarkar.

Habibulya, freedom fighter Md. Abdul Hai Sarkar (Bir Pratik), freedom fighter Major Abdus Salam (retd), freedom fighter Harun Or Rashid, veteran journalist Safi Khan, freedom fighter Sangsad Sontan Command Kurigram District President Mahbubur Rashid Talukder Swapan, Co-President Naba Kumar Sarkhel Bobby, General Secretary Amanur Rahman Khokon, Aniruddha Pranayo Prantik of Udichi Shilpigoshti, Rajya Jyoti of 19 organizations, Nationalist Liberation War Generation Member Secretary Helal Ahmed, Primary Assistant Teachers Association Member Secretary Abdul Mumin Babu, and others spoke at the event.
