Nagarik Oikya President and former VP of DUCSU Mahmudur Rahman Manna came to Kurigram and said, earlier the Election Commission had said that the schedule would be announced around 7/8 of this month.

Then it was heard that the schedule would be announced on 11th. Now the Election Commission is saying in the newspapers not to talk about the election date, we are seeing. We have said that the election must be held before Ramadan. The more the election is delayed, the more the anxiety will increase.

He said, Begum Khaleda Zia had an extraordinary contribution to the alliance of all democratic movements in this country. She has suffered a lot, endured a lot of torture. Everyone wants her to be in this election process. Everyone is worried about her health. That is why we are concerned about whether there is any change in the election situation or not. However, we want her to recover and the election to be held at the right time.

Manna also said, "We had other parties including BNP with us in the fifteen-year struggle, we are in touch with them. Discussions are underway with them. However, no electoral agreement has been reached yet. We do not want to do anything alone."

Nagorik Oikya President and former VP of DUCSU Mahmudur Rahman Manna told reporters during the inauguration of Nagorik Oikya's district office in Kurigram on Sunday afternoon, December 7.

Party General Secretary Shahidulla Kaiser, member Abdur Razzak, district committee convener retired freedom fighter Major Abdus Salam, district committee member secretary Johbadul Islam Bablu and other leaders and activists were present at the time.

Later, they addressed the freedom fighter rally at the Independence Victory Monument at the College Cross in the district town.
