Farmer dies in electric trap in Nalchiti

A farmer named Bachchu Mallick (45) died after getting entangled in an electric trap used to kill rats in Nalchiti, Jhalakathi.

The incident took place on Sunday (December 7) morning in Ichhapasha village of Subidpur union of the upazila. The matter was confirmed by Nalchiti police station OC Md. Abdus Salam.

The deceased's brother Abu Bakar Mallick said that at around 10 am, my brother went to inspect the vegetable plants planted in his land. At that time, neighbors Pintu Howlader and Alauddin Jomaddar were setting traps with electricity to kill rats in the adjacent land.

He got entangled in the trap and died on the spot. Seeing him lying in the vegetable field, we first thought he had suffered a stroke, but later we saw an electric wire wrapped around his leg. The deceased, Bachchu Mallick, is the son of Jalil Mallick of that village.

Nalchiti Police Station OC Md. Abdus Salam said that the police were sent there after receiving information about the death of the farmer who got entangled in an electric rat trap. An investigation into the incident is underway and legal action will be taken later.
