The newly appointed Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Shamsul Alam Sarkar held a view exchange meeting with journalists from three local organisations in Tangail. The meeting took place on Tuesday afternoon at the conference room of the district police super's office.

Tangail Print Media Association President M. Jobayed Mullick Bulbul, General Secretary Abu Zubair Ujjal, Journalist Union President Shamsadul Akhter Shamim, General Secretary Mohabbat Hossain, North Tangail Television Reporters Forum President Habibur Rahman, and General Secretary Golam Mostafa addressed the gathering. More than a hundred media workers from the three organisations were introduced to the new police chief at the event.

The newly appointed SP sought cooperation from journalists in performing his duties, stating that the police and journalists complement each other. "Together, we will maintain a good law and order situation in Tangail," he said.

Regarding the upcoming polls, he mentioned, "A referendum will be held concurrently with the national parliamentary election, through which the people will decide how the future Bangladesh will be run."

He added, "SPs have been posted in 64 districts centering the election, and I have joined Tangail as part of that process. Our main goal now is to ensure the upcoming general election is held fairly. We will do everything possible on behalf of the police force to ensure that the previous elections are not repeated, and that voters can come to polling stations without hindrance and cast their votes for their preferred candidates.

At the same time, we will continue our normal activities smoothly. In this regard, I seek the utmost cooperation from journalists."
