The Tangail Print Media Association held its indoor games prize distribution ceremony on Wednesday afternoon at Premio Plaza in the town's Bottola area. SM Obaidul Haque Nasir the Administrator of the District Council attended as chief guest.
The event presided over by Association President Mu. Jobayed Mallick Bulbul, was also attended by Sumaiya Momin the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Tangail, Shamsunnahar Swapna, CEO of the District Council, HM Mahbub Rezwan Siddiqui, Additional Superintendent of Police and Tahlima Jannat, District Senior Information Officer as special guests.
Other speakers included Shamsadul Akhtar Shamim, President of the Tangail Journalists' Union, Mohabbat Hossain, General Secretary of the union, Kamanashish Shekhar, President of Reporters' Unity and Prothom Alo correspondent and Iftekharul Anupam, General Secretary and Daily Janakantha correspondent. Abu Zubair Ujjal and Nahar Chakladar, General Secretaries of the Print Media Association, moderated the program.
In his speech the chief guest SM Obaidul Haque Nasir said journalists play a vital role in guiding society through their writing. He added that journalists could help build a modern Tangail free from drugs, terrorism and extortion by exposing social irregularities.
He also warned that rumors often cause harm to people and urged everyone to speak out against misinformation from their respective positions in society.
The ceremony concluded with guests distributing prizes to the winners and participants of the Print Media Association's indoor games also recognizing their sportsmanship and participation in the event.
