The Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) has cut domestic gold prices for the fourth time in two weeks also reducing the rate of high-quality 22-carat gold by Tk.3,324 per Bhori.
Effective from 10:00 AM on Sunday, the new price for 22-carat gold stands at Tk.220,858 per Bhori (11.664 grams). With this latest reduction, the price of top-grade gold has dropped by a cumulative total of Tk.10,439 per Bhori across four consecutive revisions since mid-October.
Under the updated rates the 21-carat gold: Tk.210,934 per Bhori (down by Tk.3,159), 18-carat gold: Tk.181,200 per Bhori (down by Tk.2,683) and Traditional-method gold: Tk.148,016 per Bhori (down by Tk.2,216).
BAJUS President Enamul Haque Khan Dolon stated that the adjustments directly align local rates with a downward trend in the global market. International spot gold prices recently dipped below $4,000 per troy ounce, closing around $3,996 amid concerns over global inflation and potential interest rate hikes by the US Federal Reserve.
Meanwhile the BAJUS kept silver prices unchanged with 22-carat silver remaining at Tk.3,849 per Bhori (Tk.330 per gram).
