International Anti-Corruption Day was observed in Faridpur with a series of programs held on Tuesday.
The day commenced at the district administration office with the hoisting of the national flag, accompanied by the release of pigeons and balloons. Following this, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the district administration jointly organized a rally.
After the rally, a planning meeting was held in the Deputy Commissioner's conference room, attended by key officials including Superintendent of Police Nazrul Islam, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, and ACC Deputy Director Ratan Kumar Das.
In parallel, the Awareness Citizens' Committee (SANAK), Faridpur, and Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) celebrated the day under the theme: 'Against Corruption, with Youth: Strongly Together.'
Speakers at the SANAK/TIB event emphasized the significance of involving the youth, stating that the theme will encourage the younger generation to play a more effective role in preventing corruption. They stressed the need for individuals to combat corruption from their respective positions.
The speakers also highlighted the need for a collective effort to achieve the goals of the 24-day movement aimed at eliminating inequality. While acknowledging that no country is 100% corruption-free, they expressed the belief that Bangladesh can become corruption-free with the help of the youth, underscoring that corruption can only be prevented if everyone tries together.
