A formal farewell and reception ceremony was held in Shantiganj Upazila, Sunamganj district, on Tuesday afternoon (December 09) to mark the handover of duties of the Upazila Executive Officer (UNO).
The ceremony, organized by the Upazila Administration, took place at the Jhilmil Auditorium. The event formally bid farewell to the outgoing UNO, Sukanta Saha, and welcomed the newcomer, Mohammad Shahjahan, with floral greetings.
The newcomer UNO, Mohammad Shahjahan, presided over the function. The meeting began with a welcome speech from the outgoing UNO, Sukanta Saha, and was conducted jointly by Ashish Chakraborty, Headmaster of Rathpara Primary School, and Ruby Akhter, Assistant Teacher of Sadarpur Government Primary School.
A large number of people spoke at the event, including the father and wife of the outgoing UNO, local political leaders, chairmen, teachers' association presidents, freedom fighters, expatriates, NGO workers, and representatives from different societal groups like Bauls and sports members.
Outgoing UNO Sukanta Saha expressed his gratitude, stating that he had developed a "spiritual relationship" with the people of Shantiganj Upazila and would never forget their sincerity. He has been transferred to the Ministry of Social Welfare as a secretary. His departure created an emotional atmosphere among his colleagues.
Incoming UNO Mohammad Shahjahan stated that upon taking charge, he aims to "work with transparency and sincerity for the development of the people of Shantiganj Upazila" and requested everyone's cooperation to achieve this goal.
