The shortlist for the 2025 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award has been announced, featuring six top contenders from diverse sports.
The nominees are: England footballers Hannah Hampton and Chloe Kelly, rugby union player Ellie Kildunne, darts player Luke Littler, golfer Rory McIlroy, and Formula 1 driver Lando Norris.
The winner will be decided by a public vote held live during the awards show on Thursday, 18 December, broadcast on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer from MediaCityUK in Salford. The ceremony will be presented by Gabby Logan, Alex Scott, and Clare Balding, celebrating an "incredible sporting action" year, according to BBC Sport director Alex Kay-Jelski.
In addition to the main award, the Team of the Year will also be decided by a public vote (contenders announced 15 December). Other honors to be presented on the night include Young Sports Personality of the Year, Coach of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, the Helen Rollason Award, and the publicly voted World Sport Star award.
