Human chain and memorandum submitted demanding actual list of July fighters in Lohagara

A human chain was organized in Lohagara upazila demanding the correction of the previously published list of July Freedom Fighters, and the removal of false entries. Protesters called for the re-publication of a verified and authentic list of true July fighters.

The event took place on Monday (13 October) at 11:00 AM, in front of the main gate of Lohagara Upazila Parishad, along the Dhaka-Benapole National Highway. People from various walks of life, along with several July fighters, participated in the protest under the banner of “People from All Walks of Life.”

Among those who addressed the human chain were S.A. Saifullah Mamun, Organizing Secretary of Lohagara Municipal BNP; Khizir Ahmed, President of Mallikpur Union BNP; Mizanur Rahman, General Secretary; Ahadul Islam, Joint Secretary of District Jubo Dal; Yazur Rahman Babu, leader of the Anti-Discrimination Movement; Aminur Rahman Bablu, President of Ward No. 7 BNP; Khaleda Zaman, leader of the Mahila Dal; Mahbubur Rahman Raj, Member Secretary of Lohagara Upazila Chhatra Dal; and Chhatra Dal leaders Hiron Mridha, Nadim Zaman Mahin, Sumon, Ibrahim, among others.

Speakers at the event demanded immediate publication of an accurate list of July fighters, warning of larger movements if their demands are not met promptly.

Following the protest, a delegation submitted a memorandum to the Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Md. Abu Riyad, who confirmed receiving it and stated that a decision would be taken soon regarding the matter.
