Death of prisoner in Chattogram Central Jail

A prisoner named Maulana Mansur Alam (39) has passed away in Chattogram Central Jail.

He died at approximately 1:45 am on Saturday (November 22). Mansur Alam was the son of Abdul Majid from the Gazunia area of Sadar Police Station in Cox's Bazar district.

Chattogram Central Jail Deputy Jailer Md. Rakib Sheikh reported that Mansur Alam became ill in prison on Saturday night and was promptly taken to the prison hospital. Subsequently, as his condition worsened, he was transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. Upon arrival at Chattogram Medical College Hospital at around 1:45 am, the doctor pronounced him dead. His body is currently at the CHMEC morgue awaiting autopsy.

He also mentioned that Mansur Alam was serving a life sentence for a rape conviction. He had been incarcerated for seven years. The body will be released to the family once the legal procedures are finalized.
