Land Dispute Turns Fatal as Nephew Kills Aunt in Atgharia

A 70-year-old woman, Monowara Khatun, was brutally murdered by her nephew, Azim Uddin (27), in a shocking incident stemming from a long-running family land dispute in Ramchandrapur village, Atgharia Municipality, Pabna. The murder took place at approximately 7:30 pm on Friday.

The long-standing tension between the two families escalated on Friday afternoon when Monowara Khatun’s son, Abdul Momin, attempted to construct a house on the contested property. This action led to a heated argument later in the evening. During the dispute, the accused, Azim Uddin, son of the victim's brother Akhter Hossain, allegedly became enraged and repeatedly struck Monowara Khatun with a sharp weapon, causing her death on the spot.

Upon receiving the information, Atgharia Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sharifuzzaman and his team immediately went to the scene and recovered the body. OC Sharifuzzaman confirmed that the body has been brought to the police station and preparations are underway to formally file a murder case. Police efforts are now intensively focused on arresting the accused nephew who fled the scene following the attack.
