


The Shantiganj Upazila branch of the Biswajan Volunteer Organization in Sunamganj has announced its 51-member full committee and a six-member advisory board to accelerate local humanitarian initiatives.
Approved on June 20, 2026, the newly formed committee will be led by Md. Fakhrul Islam (Fahim) as President and Mohammad Sulaiman Ahmed (Kamran) as General Secretary. To streamline operations, the extensive 51-member body includes several vice-presidents, joint secretaries and dedicated departmental heads overseeing finance, public relations, sports and women's affairs alongside a group of expatriate members.
To guide the organization's mission, a six-member advisory board was also established. The board features prominent local professionals and civil society members including Sylhet Medical University Assistant Director Dr. Jamir Uddin, pediatrician Dr. Saikat Das, Shantiganj Press Club leaders Kazi Jamirul Islam Momtaz, Md. Sohel Talukder and Hossain Ahmed as well as Haor and River Protection Movement leader Md. Obaidul Haque Milon.
Outlining their vision, General Secretary Sulaiman Ahmed stated that the committee's primary objective is to expand grassroots voluntary activities. He emphasized the organization's commitment to supporting vulnerable, helpless communities and actively driving social welfare development across the upazila.
The newly elected leadership has sought the cooperation of all local residents to help implement their upcoming community action plans successfully.
