Truck With Fake-Origin Batteries Seized in Saidpur

Local residents seized a truck loaded with auto-bike batteries near the Water Development Board office on the Saidpur-Parbatipur road on Wednesday afternoon and handed it over to Saidpur police station.

Authorities first took the truck to the bus terminal before customs officials, acting on instructions from a senior Rangpur official, moved it to the police station where the batteries were counted and seized.

A customs officer at the scene said the batteries originated from Sajjad Cycle Store an allegedly fake organisation in Saidpur. A total of 300 batteries were seized due to discrepancies in the consignment's paperwork. Customs authorities said the truck was stopped after verification and legal action will be taken against those involved.
