Bangladesh's First-Ever Boat Census Launches With Rally in Bhola

A colorful rally was held in Bhola's Ilisha area on Thursday to mark the launch of the country's first-ever 'Boat Census-2026' themed "Make the boat census successful build a prosperous Bangladesh."

Data collection for the census began Thursday and will continue until August 29 covering various types of boats across designated areas.

Organized by the District Statistics Office in collaboration with the district administration, the rally started at 10am from the Ilisha Launch Ghat area, drawing participation from local fishermen, boat owners, fish traders and other stakeholders before moving through embankment roads.

Following the rally Bhola's Additional Deputy Commissioner Anindya Mondal inspected boats along both banks of the Meghna River.

Also present were Bhola Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Sajal Kumar Das, District Information Officer Md. Shah Abdur Rahim Nurannabi, District Statistics Office Deputy Director Maksudur Rahman and other administration officials.
