5 More Deaths Reported from Measles and Suspected Cases

Four people have died from suspected measles symptoms, while one confirmed measles death has been recorded across the country in the last 24 hours, according to a press release issued by the Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday (August 12).

During the last 24 hours, 941 new patients were identified with measles symptoms, bringing the total number of suspected cases to 139,125 between March 15 and August 12.

Additionally, 84 new cases were confirmed as measles in the past 24 hours. This raises the total number of confirmed measles cases to 17,469 over the same period.

According to DGHS data, 121,013 patients presenting with measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals from March 15 to August 12, with 116,827 having recovered and been discharged so far.

The press release further noted that the four latest deaths from suspected measles bring the total mortality count among children showing measles symptoms to 786 during this period. Meanwhile, the single newly reported confirmed measles death raises the overall confirmed death toll to 99 since March 15.
