A mobile court fined several meat and animal feed shops in Laxmipur Sadar Upazila a total of Tk 33,000 on Tuesday over severe licensing violations and poor quality control.

The drive was conducted in the Godown Road and Municipal Meat Market areas also aimed to ensure consumer safety and regulatory compliance. Officials inspected the documentation and operational standards of various businesses selling meat, fish and animal feed.

During the inspection, the court found multiple establishments operating without valid business licenses. Furthermore, several meat shops failed to adhere to mandatory health and hygiene guidelines regarding animal slaughter and meat preservation.

For these regulatory breaches, the errant business owners were penalized under the Fisheries and Animal Feed Act of 2010 and the Animal Slaughter and Meat Quality Control Act of 2011. The fines were collected on the spot.

The operation was jointly led by Executive Magistrates Arafat Hossain and Habibur Rahman of the Laxmipur District Administration. They were supported by the Upazila Livestock Officer, Bangladesh Police and Battalion Ansar members.

Local authorities emphasized that regular monitoring will continue across the district to ensure food safety standards and hold non-compliant businesses accountable.
