PM Tarique Urges Opportunities for Children to Develop Their Talents

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called for children to be given opportunities to develop their talents alongside their studies and participation in sports and other activities.

“Children will strengthen the foundation of the country if they grow up in a healthy and proper environment,” he said at an event marking Child Rights Day and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh Shishu Academy on Tuesday, October 6.

The prime minister urged parents and others concerned to create opportunities for children to develop their individual talents and abilities.

“Whatever talent you have, develop it beautifully,” he told the children.

Tarique Rahman said children should not be confined to academic studies alone. They should also be encouraged to participate in sports and various creative activities, which he said would contribute to their physical and mental development.

He stressed the importance of ensuring a safe and supportive environment for children to grow up in. Today’s children will lead the country in the future, he said, adding that providing them with opportunities to develop their abilities and potential would help build a stronger state.

“We want to build a humane Bangladesh,” the prime minister said, stressing that children should become compassionate and humane alongside pursuing their education.

Praising children’s creativity, he emphasised the need to provide them with greater encouragement and opportunities to nurture their talents.

Tarique Rahman also stressed the need to ensure children’s rights and create a safe, beautiful and humane environment for them.

During the programme, the prime minister was presented with 35 paintings created by children.

He also said arrangements would be made for children to learn languages other than Bangla from the school level.

In the morning, 150 children welcomed the prime minister when he arrived at Bangladesh Shishu Academy. The programme began with the national anthem.

This year’s Child Rights Day programme carries the theme, “Let Children’s Future Be Protected.”

Prime Minister’s wife and Ziaur Rahman Foundation Vice Chairman Zubaida Rahman was present at the event. Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain presided over the programme.
