Tree Plantation Drive Launched Along Market Road Following Eviction of Illegal Occupants

Tree saplings have been planted on cleared land along the Market Road in Laxmipur Municipality following the eviction of illegal encroachments. The initiative, led by Laxmipur Municipal Administrator Samrat Khisa, has drawn widespread appreciation from local residents.

on Wednesday (August 12) morning, the sapling plantation was carried out along the stretch from the city's Jharna Pharmacy area to the Sub-Registry Office.

According to municipal authorities, the initiative was undertaken in line with the nationwide slogan, "Brikkhoropone Sajai Desh, Sobar Age Bangladesh" (Decorate the Country with Tree Plantation, Bangladesh First). Over 50 saplings were planted along the Jharna Pharmacy to Sub-Registry Office stretch, with plans to plant more than 500 saplings across various roads in the municipality.

Abdul Mannan, a local trader in the market area, praised the effort, saying, "Planting saplings is a commendable step. However, planting them is not enough; regular care and maintenance are essential. The authorities must also ensure that illegal hawkers do not reclaim the space."

Kamal Hossain, a local school teacher, added, "This is the first time the municipal administration has planted trees along the Market Road. Evicting illegal hawkers and replacing the encroachments with trees is a fantastic initiative."

Speaking on the drive, Laxmipur Municipal Administrator Samrat Khisa said, "The vacant spaces along the Market Road were reclaimed from illegal occupants and have now been used to plant saplings. Protective circular fences have been installed around the plants, and they will receive regular care and maintenance."
