Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman visited flood-stricken areas in Chittagong on Friday to distribute relief materials and financial aid to affected families.
Arriving at Shah Amanat International Airport in the morning, Dr. Rahman traveled directly to the waterlogged communities of Banshkhali upazila. He spoke with local residents to assess the damage caused by recent heavy rainfall and landslides, which have left thousands stranded in inhumane conditions.
Speaking to journalists, Dr. Rahman emphasized that supporting disaster-affected citizens is a fundamental moral and humanitarian duty. He urged wealthy individuals, voluntary organizations, and citizens from all walks of life to extend immediate assistance to those in need.
Following his visit to Banshkhali, the Jamaat chief is scheduled to inspect flood-hit areas in Satkania and review landslide damages within Chittagong city.
Incessant rains have triggered severe flooding across several upazilas, including Banshkhali, Satkania, Lohagara, and Chandanaish. Local reports confirm extensive property damage and multiple casualties due to landslides, leaving numerous families displaced and in urgent need of humanitarian aid. Central and local party leadership accompanied the Ameer during the inspection.
