A total of 47 candidates have been finalised for the five parliamentary constituencies in Narayanganj ahead of Bangladesh’s 13th National Parliament election, scheduled for February 12, 2026.

Tuesday (January 20) was the final day for withdrawing nomination papers. Following scrutiny and appeals, Narayanganj Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md Raihan Kabir confirmed that 50 nominations were initially declared valid. By the withdrawal deadline of 5:00 pm, only three candidates withdrew, leaving 47 contenders in the race.

According to election officials, the final list includes several BNP rebel candidates. Multiple candidates from the 10-party alliance are also contesting in the same constituencies. In addition, the Democratic United Front, a left-leaning alliance, has fielded candidates from different partner parties in two seats.

Election symbols will be allocated to the final candidates on Wednesday (January 21). Once symbols are assigned, candidates will be allowed to begin formal campaigning, subject to strict compliance with the election code of conduct.

Constituency-wise, the number of candidates is as follows: seven in Narayanganj-1, six in Narayanganj-2, 11 in Narayanganj-3, 13 in Narayanganj-4, and 10 in Narayanganj-5.
