Nominations of 9 candidates including BNP's Kamruzzaman in Dinajpur-5 constituency valid, cancelled 1

The District Returning Officer has declared the nomination papers of 9 candidates including BNP's nominated candidate Barrister AKM Kamruzzaman in Dinajpur-5 constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election valid. At the same time, the nomination papers of one candidate have been cancelled.

On Sunday (January 4), the last day of nomination papers selection, the nomination papers of a total of 18 candidates from Dinajpur-5 and Dinajpur-6 constituencies were verified.

In Dinajpur-5 (Parbatipur-Phulbari) constituency, the nomination papers of Aam Janata Dal candidate Md. Ibrahim Ali Mandal were cancelled due to loan default. A total of 10 candidates including BNP, Jamaat and NCP had filed nomination papers in this constituency.

Meanwhile, the nomination papers of independent candidates Md. Shahnewaz Firoz Shah and Md. Abdullah have been cancelled in Dinajpur-6 (Birampur-Hakimpur-Nawabganj-Ghoraghat) constituency. Their nominations were cancelled due to discrepancies in the signatures of one percent of the voters' lists submitted by the independent candidates.

The nomination papers of six candidates, including BNP's nominated candidate Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain and Jamaat's candidate Anwarul Islam, have been declared valid in this constituency.

According to sources from the District Returning Officer's office, a total of 48 candidates submitted their nominations on the last day of nomination submission (December 29) in the six constituencies of Dinajpur district. After scrutiny, the nominations of five were cancelled and the nomination of one was suspended. And the nomination papers of 43 candidates were declared valid by the District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam.
