8 candidates including BNP-Jamaat file nomination papers for Dinajpur-5 constituency

A total of eight candidates including BNP, Jatiya Party (JPA), Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), Jamaat-e-Islami, Aamjanta Party and three independent candidates have filed nomination papers for Dinajpur-5 (Phulbari-Parbatipur) constituency in the 13th National Parliament election.

The candidates submitted their nomination papers at the offices of the Phulbari and Parbatipur Upazila Nirbahi Officers and Assistant Returning Officers in a festive atmosphere from Monday (December 29) morning. In addition, candidates from Jamaat-e-Islami and Jatiya Nagorik Party submitted their nomination papers at the office of the Dinajpur District Returning Officer.

The nominees are: Barrister AKM Kamruzzaman Zaman, legal advisor to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) nominee and acting chairman Tarique Rahman, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Maulana Anwarul Haque, Jatiya Party's Kazi Abdul Gafur, National Citizen Party's (NCP) Dr. Abdul Ahad, Amjanta Party's Ibrahim Ali Mandal, and independent candidates BNP leaders AZM Rezwanul Haque, SM Zakaria and lecturer Rostam Ali. The candidates submitted their nomination papers to the concerned Upazila Executive Officer and Assistant Returning Officer along with their supporters.

Fulbari Upazila Executive Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Ahmed Hasan confirmed the submission of the nomination papers. According to Upazila Election Office sources, the total number of voters in Dinajpur-5 constituency, which consists of Phulbari and Parbatipur upazilas, is 4 lakh 71 thousand 134.
