The Election Commission has reinstated Nagorik Oikko chief Mahmudur Rahman Manna’s candidacy for Bogura-2.

The Election Commission (EC) has reinstated the candidacy of Nagorik Oikko Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna for the Bogura-2 (Shibganj) constituency.

The decision came on Sunday following an appeal hearing chaired by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin.

Earlier, on January 2, the returning officer for Bogura-2 had rejected Manna's nomination papers during the scrutiny phase. The rejection was based on procedural discrepancies and documentary irregularities within his election affidavit, specifically regarding inconsistent information and signature dates.

Manna filed an appeal against the initial decision, which the EC heard and subsequently accepted. With this ruling, the Nagorik Oikko chief is now cleared to contest the upcoming 13th parliamentary election, scheduled for February 12, 2026.
