Members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard rescued a seven-year-old girl alive after she fell into the Meghna River at Bhola’s Ilisha Ferry Ghat on Saturday evening.

The child, identified as Mosammad Habiba, is the daughter of Mohammad Habib from Kalupur in the Ilisha Union of Bhola Sadar Upazila.

According to officials, Habiba was playing near the old pontoon at the Ilisha Junction Ferry Ghat when she accidentally fell into the river. A patrol team from the Coast Guard Station Ilisha, which was nearby on a routine mission, immediately launched a rescue operation upon hearing the news.

The team successfully pulled the girl from the water and provided her with first aid. She was later reunited with her family.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lt. BN Md. Abul Kashem confirmed the incident, noting the quick response of the patrol team in saving the child's life.
