Acting Chairman of the BNP Tarique Rahman has stated that although he would love to be with his mother, Khaleda Zia, who is in critical condition, he does not have complete control on his return to Bangladesh.
Like any child, Tarique expressed his desire to be close to his mother during such a crisis in a Facebook post on Monday morning. Citing the delicate nature of the situation, he clarified that his freedom to decide whether or not to return is "neither unrestricted nor solely within my control."
"Our family continues to hope that my long and anxious wait to return to my homeland will finally come to an end once the current political realities reach the expected stage," he said.
Tarique's comments coincide with the fact that former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is still in serious condition at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. On November 23, she was admitted due to illnesses in her lungs and heart. She is currently undergoing critical treatment in the hospital's Coronary treatment Unit (CCU) under the supervision of both domestic and foreign specialists, according to the doctors, who also say she has pneumonia.
People from all walks of life, regardless of political background, have been praying for Khaleda's recovery, he said. The chief adviser has promised complete cooperation in her treatment, he added.
According to Tarique, medical teams both domestically and internationally are offering committed treatment, and a number of friendly nations have indicated that they would be willing to provide sophisticated medical support if necessary.
He stated, "The Zia family expresses its heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude for the sincere prayers and affection for Begum Khaleda Zia." We sincerely want everyone to continue praying for her quick recovery.
The 80-year-old Khaleda has long struggled with a number of chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, heart disease, liver and kidney problems, lung problems, arthritis, and eye-related concerns. She has had stenting in the past and has a permanent pacemaker.
Her kidney function has substantially declined, according to sources in her medical board Friday night. Doctors may try to move her overseas for more advanced treatment if her condition improves; Singapore is a possibility, but the UK is the primary choice.
Citing briefings from Khaleda's medical team, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated that Khaleda's condition is "very critical" during a Sunday event in Nayapaltan.
