The body of a 45-year-old Saudi expatriate Yunus Ali was recovered from the Naleya River in Sadullapur upazila on Friday morning nearly a day after he went missing.

Yunus a resident of Nayapara village had been working in Saudi Arabia for 15 years and recently returned home on leave. According to his family he went fishing in the local river with a net around 1:00 PM on Thursday and failed to return.

Following an initial search by worried relatives and locals, diving teams from the Sadullapur and Rangpur Fire Services launched a joint rescue operation on Thursday night. At 10:00 AM on Friday diver assisted by community members successfully recovered his body.

The in-charge of the Sadullapur Fire Service confirmed the timeline and recovery. However Sadullapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Habibul Islam could not be reached for an official police statement despite multiple phone calls.

Local Member of Parliament Maulana Abu Kawsar Mohammad Nazrul Islam Lebu visited the grieving family on Friday to offer his condolences.
