Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Forecast for 12 Districts

Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 60 km per hour may sweep over 12 districts across the country by this evening, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

​The Met Office issued this forecast in a weather alert for internal river ports valid until 6:00 PM on Friday (August 7).

​According to the bulletin, rain or thunderstorms with temporary gusty or squally winds blowing from the west or north-west at speeds of 45 to 60 km/h are likely over the regions of Pabna, Dhaka, Faridpur, Kustia, Jessore, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, and Cox's Bazar.

In view of the weather conditions, river ports in these areas have been advised to hoist Distant Cautionary Signal No. 1.
